What you need before you start using Karate Tools.

This page lists what you need before using Karate Tools. After meeting these requirements, follow the quickstart.

Tool requirements

  1. Git

  2. asdf (version management)

The required asdf plugins and versions are defined in the repository’s own .tool-versions file. The current required versions are:

  • maven 3.9.14

  • java temurin-25.0.3+9.0.LTS

Minimum checklist before starting

  • Tool requirements above are met.

  • The target project to be tested with Karate Tools exists, and at least runs locally.

  • You know in which artifact the project’s REST Open API is defined — and the Open API of any external services you want to mock.
